BM Power Operations

Power Operations is an internal service entity specializing in the repair, maintenance and operation of BM's power plants and energy transmission lines.

Tasks undertaken by BM's operational management staff include a thorough E&M QA/QC process from contract signing, through shop tests to erection and commissioning, periodic maintenance and repair works, continuous improvement of hardware, procedures and standards, interlinking of SCADA systems and optimization of operational schedules

In the design stage, BM's operational management staff study with groups and companies having enough experience in design and with good references.

In the procurement stage, BM's operational management staff collect quotations, evaluate them, select the best one and confirms that all parts and materials that will go into a completed BM project meet the ISO Procurement Standards. BM also regularly updates its Procurement Standards to ensure compatibility with all the current laws and standards in countries around the world.

BM's operational management staff having good experience and knowladge join in all factory acceptance test which were requested by them in contracts. BM have engineers and techniciens having good experience and knowladge about tests and operations at each HEPP. They have all necessary certificates and trainings which is compatible with all the current laws and standards. Engineers and techniciens support and witness all erection activities and test.

Three types of turbine are in operation at BM HEPPs; francis, pelton and kaplan. All BM's operational staff are familier with those turbines and the other systems like regulators, regulator gates, electrical panels, SCADA systems, generators, MV switchgears, transformers and batteries.

SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a main software application program at BM HEPP for process control, the gathering of data in real time from remote locations in order to control equipment and conditions. SCADA is used in power plants as well as in oil and gas refining, telecommunications, transportation, and water and waste control.

SCADA systems include hardware and software components. The hardware gathers and feeds data into a computer that has SCADA software installed. The computer then processes this data and presents it in a timely manner. SCADA also records and logs all events into a file stored on a hard disk or sends them to a printer. SCADA warns when conditions become hazardous by sounding alarms.

Periodic maintenances like daily, weekly, monthly and annually are done to prevent failures likely to occur in equipments by operators and technicians. Periodic maintenances have been identified by examine into manufacturer instructions and manuals. All kind of events are recorded nad reported by operators at every day.

The design stage contniniue during commercial operation by revizing and upgrading systems for the necessary and adequate requirements at the curent conditions. The important and critical parts are taken into account and keep them in store as spare parts except for supplied ones before.
